Let's be honest, Christmas wouldn't be right if you didn't listen to the same songs, year in, year out. Screw the X Factor finalist song, it's all about the classics...
Here's some of my all time favourite Christmas songs!
1. Fairytale Of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty McColl
I think this is my FAVE song. I absolutely love it. Not strictly in the Christmas spirit, but it shows that it's not all hunky dory for people. It's pretty realistic in that sense. Just the whole thing about this song, I love it - the instruments, the lyrics, how it's performed. Everything.
2. Baby It's Cold Outside - Idina Menzel and Michael Buble
What a classic. I love this. I don't even need to explain the sheer perfection of this song... I think these two make a fab duo and their vocals are insanely good. I love, love, love it. I also think of Elf and the shower scene whenever I hear this song and giggle to myself. Another great thing about this song - Michael Buble's voice *swoons*
3. Once In Royal David's City.
This is technically a hymn, but I love this. When we went to Church every Christmas Eve, this would be one of the hymns we sang. It reminds me so much of my Grandma, I remember sitting there watching her in the choir and she would be beaming with pride and happiness. I think that's one reason why I love it so much.
4. Stay Another Day - East 17
Looooooooove this song. I know the meaning behind it is really sad but it gives me all the feels. Plus it's a real good belter. Kayne hates it when I put this on full blast in the car but you have to do it! I get goosebumps when I hear this song sometimes. Won't you stay another day...
5. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
You can't help but boogie and sing along to this one. No matter how many times you hear it, you can't not get into it! This was played so much at uni on nights out in the clubs and everyone would just go for it (Oh Lincoln, I do miss you). I just think about Love Actually now whenever I hear this song!
