It's no lie that I'm a lover of candles. There's simply no denying that I'm a candle addict. I can't even count how many candles I actually own and how many tarts I have to burn still... There's just something extra wonderful around this time of the year about candles, don't you think?
The scents this time of year are just incredible. I hate the fresh, florally scents so winter and summer are my favourite seasonal scents. the winter scents just bring me all kinds of homey goodness. Hence why the majority of the candles I burn around this time of the year are food related!
I always receive candles for Christmas which I love, it never bugs me. I don't see it as a 'kop out' gift because I know I'll definitely get my use out of them!
The first of my favourite scents is this gorgeous duo by Yankee Candle called 'Let It Snow'. A mash up between sparkling snow and cherries on snow. It's fresh but fruity, it's a very interesting combination but it works so well. I've been burning this A LOT recently and my room smells so good. I've never seen this combination before until I received it as a gift. Yankee Candles are pretty pricey but in all honesty, I think they're worth the money.
Next is a Yankee Candle Tart 'Berry Trifle'. Holy moly, this tart is beautiful. I could literally smell this all day. This is a scent you have to try this winter. It smells sooooooo damn good, you just want to eat it! I wish I had a full size jar of this because I know I'd burn it practically all the time. Since I'm about to move into my first home too, I keep thinking of what scents to have in different rooms and this would definitely be the living room or kitchen scent I think!
The wonderful thing about tarts is that they're really affordable, priced at like £2 something and the amount of burning hours you get out of these is so good. they say approximately 8-10 hours but I easily get about the same as a medium-large jar, if not more! The most expensive part to the tarts is getting a burner for them. I would recommend that you get a Yankee tart burner or a good priced one at that. The amount that I've seen that have blown up or set themselves on fire is scary, it's just not worth the risk. Also, you can buy a huge bag of tea lights for about £2-3 which will last a while!
Ah... Zoella, one of the biggest Youtubers right now. She has her own lifestyle range, which I was pretty excited to try, even though some of them have her name plastered all over it (which does put me off slightly) I was adamant to try her candles and diffusers! 'Gingerbread Village' caught my eye straight away, I absolutely love the gingerbread scent, I love eating it, smelling it, baking it.. everything! It's not as strong as I hoped it would be but it's still pretty dang good, hence why it's in my favourite scents post! Plus it's so photogenic. Gingerbread Village really brings back some childhood memories for me!
Yankee Candle's 'Macaron Treats', I've never smelt before until recently - I think it must be fairly new? Correct me if I'm wrong on this one! I loved this scent so much, I had to buy a further three tarts and currently hunting for a jar version of this because I can't seem to find it anywhere in my local Yankee stocklist shops but I'm refusing to pay online prices haha! This is sooooooooo good and yummy! I love the staying power of this scent too - it literally lasts for days after burning it. I stayed at Kayne's for the weekend, came back home and my room STILL smelt like the tart was burning! I wish candles were edible sometimes because holy moly this one would be worth eating. I realise how weird that sounds too...
'Snowflake Cookie' by Yankee Candle, I got a couple years ago now and I STILL haven't got the bottom of the jar, it just seems to be never ending! This and 'Fireside Treats'(which I've used up, oops) are probably my favourite winter scents. There's just something about them both. This smells like freshly baked cookies when the icing has JUST been put onto them... Yeah, that smell *drools* and again, it's a very homey scent for me and brings back lots of memories. I hope Yankee Candle do this scent forever because I can't get enough. I have the large jar, medium jar, tart and tealight versions of this one scent (and Fireside Treats) so it's very clear that they're my all time favourite! If you haven't smelt this scent yet, get yourself down to a shop and smell it!
Last, but certainly not least is the Yankee Candle Simply Home range with the scent 'Sunlight On Snow'. This is probably one of the very few fresh scents that I actually like that doesn't make me feel sick and weird. It's a very welcoming scent which is odd to describe it as but it truly is. It's a very soft scent too, which is why I think I like this so much, fresh ones are always so overpowering I find. You can pick up the Simple Home range in Asda and Tesco - I'm not sure about any other supermarkets but I would imagine you can!
These scents will make a good present for anyone! They're seriously good stuff and totally worth it in my opinion!
