MAC LIPSTICK SWATCHES AND REVIEWS!

22 May 2015

Hey guys!

I'm officially back! Second year is over, my week of celebrating is done and I've partied like it's an S Club party (literally, I went to see them the other night - blog post coming up on that soon).  So you will once more get a weekly or sometimes twice weekly blog post: HURRAH!
So without further ado, it's time for the MAC lipstick swatches and review. I have been super excited to write about this because I absolutely adore MAC lipstick and the shades I currently have! I've done swatches in natural light and flash so you can see the difference with different lighting. I have four shades so far - Kinda Sexy, Velvet Teddy, Angel and Faux.

Top to bottom - Kinda Sexy, Angel, Faux, Velvet Teddy (both pics)

Left to right - Kinda Sexy, Angel, Faux and Velvet Teddy
First is my most recent purchase - 'Kinda Sexy'.  It's a super pretty and flattering matte nude with a tinge of orange. I think it's a bit more vibrant than the other nudes which makes it perfect for the summer. The website says 'neutral pinky rose' but I completely disagree. In my opinion it looks nothing like the sample shade they show you on the website but I love it all the same!

Next is 'Angel'. Now, on the website it looks like a really nice plum pink, described 'soft pink' in the frost finish - again nothing like it does on my lips. :( So I was pretty disappointed with this shade because on my lips it's quite a pinky pink and I don't feel THAT confident with pink lips. However, I'm slowly working with this shade and I'm growing to like it thank god!

'Faux' was my first MAC lipstick and Holy moly, it's such a beautiful shade. The website describes it as a 'muted mauve-pink' in satin finish, I completely agree with this. It is so so nice on, it feels amazing on your lips and makes your lips look hella good. This shade works really well for everyday wear and even nightwear - so if you have intense or smoky eye effect, 'Faux' will look amazing on your lips.

Last of all is the one and only 'Velvet Teddy'. This was made particularly famous by Kylie Jenner, I can see why, it is such a good lipstick. The MAC website describes it as a 'deep tone beige'. I think Velvet Teddy is my favourite by a landslide! I just think it's a really complimentary shade to my skin and really magnifies my lips, which is an added bonus. I wear this most with the 'whirl' lipliner (all out Kylie Jenner I know) and it just looks amaaaazing. I've also received so many compliments whenever I have worn this lipstick so if you're looking for a great matte nude - this is the one!

So there you have it guys, my MAC lipstick swatches and review! I really hope you enjoyed this post. I'm so sorry for being so distant from the blog recently, but I've really been focussing on my assignments and everything else. Leave any comments below, like, share - you know the drill :) The next blog will be up in a few days! Thanks for reading,

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection Review!

5 May 2015

Hey guys,

So I'm powering through my assignments and since I'm nearly done, decided to 'treat' myself and write on here! Today, I will be reviewing Sam and Nic Chapman's latest brush collection - 'Bold Metals'. I will review the one I have so far which is the 101 triangle foundation brush! I have been really excited to try these brushes since they came out, but I didn't have the money to pay for them as they are pretty pricey. However, they are definitely worth the money. Before I purchased the 101 Foundation brush, I did the worst thing by going onto Boots website and reading the reviews. It really made me question whether it was worth the money because people were giving such bad reviews. HOWEVER, I ignored the reviews and went with my gut instinct and I'm glad I did because it's bloody amazing. People had said that it scratched their face (I was a bit bamboozled by this) and that it made their foundation streaky...  Well, I disagree with all of these reviews and say the opposite. It is incredibly soft and nice on the skin and I have very sensitive skin so literally anything at all can give me flare ups. You'll see what I mean by how good these brushes are as the post moves on!

First things first - the presentation of the brush is amazing. I really love the packaging. I also love the design of the Bold Metals collection. They are larger than the last collection in terms of length but they can still fit into my make-up bag ok (my bag is 15cm in length) These brushes also feel a lot more 'professional' than the last collection - if that can be said about brushes. I don't know why they feel so professional but I think it's the angling of the handle which I loveeeeeee. I also love the colour scheme that they've gone for: gold, silver and rose gold.

The brush is super soft! It is also the easiest applicator I've now ever used for foundation. I am a loyal user of Real Technique - I swear by them! Now, I thought that the old collection of brushes were soft... This is a whole new level of softness! It feels so smooth on my skin and applies amaaaazingly! I love the shape of the brush especially as it makes applying foundation so much easier as you can get into the 'nucks and crannys' of your face! I also like the shape of the brush, as it is triangular it really does cover a lot more of your face. I have also found that since I have begun using this brush that I haven't used as much foundation either because it really evens it on on your skin - added bonus! I have been a faithful user of the buffing brush for some time but now I have been converted to this brush shape! I love the two-tone style as well for the brush.

All in all, this brush is fabulous. I really recommend this collection to anyone, I certainly cannot wait to buy more. The only problem I have with the brushes is the price - at £22.00 it is definitely a purse burner. I would not pay much attention to the negative reviews either, as I said at the beginning just go with your gut instinct with these, I'm certainly glad I did! :) p.s. if any one else has tried the Bold Metals collection - let me know in the comments your thoughts and the brush you have tried! MAC lipstick swatch will be coming up next so make sure to check my blog again soon! Thanks for reading, I hope you liked the review!
