My Secret To Long Lashes!

30 March 2016

This is something I swear by, I did this way back in year 8 and it worked like a treat. This is no 'younique' mascara or anything like that. I used to have really stubby, short lashes where nothing would work and then with mascara on I just looked like a minging, clumpy mess! But one night I tried this and thought I had nothing to lose so I did it for some time and voila! It worked!

50 Little Things To Be Happy About

28 March 2016

Just a little pick me up. There's been a lot happening recently and I've been making this list for some time, just adding little bits as I go whenever I've felt down in the dumps so I decided to turn it into a blog post and spread the happiness!

How I Edit My Photos

23 March 2016

This is literally nothing special. I'm no photo guru and I'm certainly no expert. If you're like me and not fortunate enough to own a camera yet and have to rely on your camera phone (much to the disgrace of some people)

boohoo.com Wishlist!

21 March 2016

So very recently, my best friend Jade won a competition with boohoo.com where she won a brand new spring wardrobe for herself and the person she tagged as her best friend (me) We were so excited and shocked, this is our second big competition that we've won recently.

My Everyday Makeup!

18 March 2016

So my everyday makeup is pretty basic actually looking at this photo! This is what I wear for work, uni or just heading to town with the occasional eyeshadow or lipstick if I'm feeling a bit rebellious - oooooooh!

I don't even use a full coverage of powder, I'm that lazy...

The products I use are:

1. Rimmel Match Perfect Foundation
Hands down, my all time favourite foundation. Perfect for the price. I've not found one better.

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
A recent purchase of mine, I love it so much!
I've just done a review about it which you can view here

3. Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner
I've loved this, then hated it, went off it, loved it again, so on and so forth! Right now it's my favourite eyeliner and it's lasting me forever! Definitely getting my money's worth!

4. Benefit Cosmetics Sugarbomb
The smell, the look, the texture... Everything. It provides a flawless finish on your cheeks.

5. Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer
The best high-end concealer I've used. I use it for everything, spots, dark circles, nights out, library sessions... Never failed me yet!

6. Benefit Cosmetics Rollerlash Mascara
My ABSOLUTE favourite mascara in the world. If you can find one better than this, then let me know. The best Benefit Cosmetics product I've ever used.

7. MAC Cosmetics Mineralise Powder
Fantastic coverage, I only use this under my eyes or on spots in the day time, I very rarely use it for the whole of my face unless it's a night out.

Do you use any of these products? Would you try any? Let me know in the comments below!

I hope you've enjoyed this post today, I always like writing these kind of posts, I wish I did them more! Thanks for reading as always, be sure to follow me on all my social media accounts!

10 Things That You'll Think During Your Dissertation.

14 March 2016

So if you're a third year or you have been a third year, you will completely sympathise with the dissertation rollercoaster. I'm certainly feeling it and mine's due on 18th March! I know I've definitely felt all of these at some point and I know I'm not alone in this.

1. Shit... The time...
When you reflect on your third year, you'll think "shit, should've started sooner", "were those nights out really worth it?" Right now I'm like shit, less than a week to go...

2. You'll feel an awful lot like this from time to time:
You'll also want to scream at any first year who dares say they're under so much stress in their course.
Sorry first years but it's true! I was the same in first year and you'll totally get it when you come to third year.

3. You'll question your dissertation every few days.
Does my question even make sense anymore? Are these even words? Wait what?

4. Napping? No problem!
Although you'll feel guilty for doing it, you will find you can nap pretty much anywhere.

5. Any sign of potential illness will make you freak out.
A simple headache? Nope. Not happening. A sneeze? You'll pray you don't have the flu.

6. You'll wonder when you have time to eat...
And when you do eat, you'll think about how much dissertation work you could have done. You'll force yourself to eat eventually.

7.  All you want is to get drunk, you envy the years below you.

8. The outrage you feel when you discover that the ONE book you need in the library has been taken out...
Then the return date is after your dissertation deadline. Fuming.

9. Caffeine consumption will be at an all time high.
You'll probably get the red bull shakes... Not even kidding my heart is fluttering from the amount of sugar I'm consuming at the moment.

10.  But all those sleepless nights, breakdowns, tears, stress and aggro will all be worth it when it's over and you can do this...

Yes... The Office gifs are all appropriate.

MY BLOG IS ONE YEARS OLD!

12 March 2016

This is just a very quick post, I'm in the last stage of my dissertation so I'm just writing this super quick but wow my blog is one years old! It's gone so fast I can't believe it! It literally doesn't feel a year ago since Jade told me to start a blog and I was sat there in my room in student halls, plucking up the courage to do so.

I'm so glad I did, I can tell you that much. I know I'm only a small blog, in fact a VERY small blog but this means a lot to me. Anyone who has ever taken their time out to read my blog on this huge thing we call the internet, thank you. Everyone who has helped, supported - everything, thank you! I can't even begin to tell you how great it feels. Jade definitely deserves the biggest thank you as she was the one who encouraged me to start the blog and she's been there every step of the way, so thank you Jadeđź’–.

The blogger community is incredible that is all about spreading positivity and being supportive of others (minus a select few) I'm so happy to be a part of this community. It's changed me so much as a person already and I love it.

You can expect to see more of me once my dissertation, assignments and university are all done and dusted! I'm going to actually try and attend blogger events this year also, being a student makes me so poor... I don't even dare check my bank balance. I'm off to Florida soon so I'll do posts related to that as well in the lead up. More beauty posts,  lifestyle, maybe some 'how-to' & fashion posts (depends how ballsy I'm feeling)

I hope you continue this journey with me, thanks for reading, let's see where we end up!

Makeup Revolution Flawless Palette

9 March 2016

I've heard nothing but good things about Makeup Revolution recently. It seems to be sending the blogging community gaga! I knew I had to see what all the fuss was about so I decided to treat myself to their Flawless Ultra Eyeshadows palette. I was expecting the palette to be a minimum £20, how wrong was I? It was £8! Absolute bargain for 32 eyeshadows. I couldn't believe it.

If I'm being completely honest, I did not have high expectations for this palette because the price seemed too good to be true and I'm so used to wearing Urban Decay and MAC for eyeshadow, I'm a bit of a shadow snob. Also because everyone has been raving about Makeup Revolution I set my expectations lower to avoid disappointment. I always find that when people rave about something, I set myself a really high standard and often left disappointed. Doing the opposite to that this time round make my general first impressions so much better than before!

I'm pleased to say that this palette met all my expectations and more.
The different colours are all beautiful. I can't wait to get a bit more courage to try the reds and copper colours. They're all super pigmented and I love the names! Because they're quite pigmented, a little goes a long way with this palette. However, depending on how dramatic you want your eyes to look varies with how much you want to build on the colour. I wanted a dramatic shadow look for my valentine's meal wth Kayne and I love wearing brown on my eyes for different reasons such as: 1. It's in my comfort zone, 2. It makes my eyes look bigger than what they are and 3. It tends to compliment  my skin tone and eye colour the best I find (whether that's because it's in my comfort zone, who knows?)

In this picture I used a combination of shadows to try and create a lovely dramatic smoky eye look (I'm not sure whether I achieved that or not but oh well!) I'll put the names of the shadows in bold.

So, for the inner corners I used soft glow just to make my eyes seem a tiny bit bigger and more open, then for the base shadow I used uncover. I don't really like wearing eyeshadow primer, I find it makes my eyelids crease up really bad and it just looks terrible on me. I'm yet to find a good primer so if anyone has good eye primers that they can recommend then I'm all ears!
For the 'main lid' I used almost there which is a gorgeous pale brown and it goes on so effortlessly.
Then for the outer part of the lid going into the outer corner I used smudge. I think smudge is my favourite brown colour on this palette. Then for the crease and the corners of my lower lash line (which you can't see because my eyes are closed - didn't think about that at the time) I used pure chocolate which is a super rich brown. All the shadows I used are matte apart from soft glow and uncover.

All in all, I'm super impressed with this palette, I have not found a single flaw in it yet. I can't wait to try more Makeup Revolution products! Have you ever tried Makeup Revolution - if so what products have you tried? Let me know in the comments below! Also - should I put the picture of my face on my Instagram? The reason for asking this is because I need to get a bit braver with makeup related posts in terms of my face and 'looks' if that makes sense. I want to put it on there but I always worry about what people think so if you could let me know if it's worth while then I'm all ears!

Lipsticks Perfect For Spring

4 March 2016

I've been stumped for blog posts this month, I thought I had scheduled more than I actually had! Thankfully, Jemma from dorkface.co.uk managed to save the day by offering 20 post ideas for Spring! So thank you Jemma, you've saved my mushed up dissertation brain!

I've also changed my photos slightly, let me know what you think!

So, it's getting to that time of the year where things start to get good... Not going to lie, I hate winter. It's all well and good for Christmas and cosy nights in, but that's pretty much all I like, I'm definitely a Spring/Summer person! I've promised myself I'm going to wear a bit more colour too, I always wear nudes on my lips and I need to be a bit more adventurous. I was going through my lipstick collection and found some shades that are perfect for the upcoming months!

Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm - 245
MAC Cosmetics - Faux
Max Factor - English Rose
Kate Moss - 110
Make Up Revolution Salvation Velvet Lacquer - What I Believe.

Revlon Colourburst 245 is a beautiful burnt orange shade and it's matte - so even better! I love this shade, I wore it a few times last year and at first I felt uncomfortable but I eventually got used to it!
MAC Cosmetics Faux is a lovely mauve/pink nude (obviously) and is the most expensive lipstick on this list.
Max Factor English Rose, I feel like this will be saved for the real summery spring days! It's quite a bright pink (especially for me).
Kate Moss 110 is a repurchase for me. I was in love with it a couple years back, forgot about it and to the back of the drawer it went. When I rediscovered it (after buying another of course) that love rekindled all over again!
Finally, the Make Up Revolution lip lacquer is the newest addition to my collection. I only got it last week AND it's the cheapest item on my Spring lipstick list! If you're on a major budget then I definitely recommend Make Up Revolution. All their makeup is super affordable, cheap and amazing quality! It cannot be beaten!

Do any of these make your Spring lipstick list? Would you try any? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading all, I hope you've enjoyed today's post. Feel free to follow me on Twitter, Instagram and Bloglovin' for updates on the blog, life and cat pictures (when I'm back home)!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow

2 March 2016

I had heard nothing but good things about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow, so naturally I had to give it a try. I've promised myself that this year I will branch out to more products (even though I have no money) because I tend to stick to what I know but I am on a mission to achieve the perfect brows with gradients - good luck Katie!

So the initial dip brow is £15.00 which at first I thought was a bit pricey because you only get 4g worth. However, when it arrived I felt like I was basically paying for the container the dip brow comes in because it's glass packaging. So I was a bit frustrated there but I thought I'd wait until I tried the product before I made any real judgement.

When I tried the dip brow, I was pleasantly surprised! The pomade is a very peculiar texture and a little really does go a long way, I figured that out when I first dipped the brush into the pomade (oops) I can definitely see me getting a lot out of this product and it lasting for a very long time, so the £15 is definitely very well spent! Be very careful at how heavy handed you approach your brows, if you're too heavy on the first brush to brow/skin contact, it can ruin your whole look. You need to try and be light handed with this because as I said, a little goes a long way! The brush really helps adjusting to how hard you should go at your brows if that makes sense.

I ordered the shade Medium Brown. On the beauty bay website there was recommendations on what colour dip brow you should get according to your hair colour so that was a huge help because I literally had no clue which one would be best for me - all the browns looked exactly the same to me! I would definitely recommend you search the colour on someones eyebrows before you buy - e.g. google images, the official Anastasia Beverly Hills Instagram & Twitter accounts - they often post images of people's make up and say what they're using on the brows the shade etc. That definitely helped me to determine the shade I purchased.

I also ordered the number 12 large synthetic duo brow brush because I heard great things about it! On beauty bay's website it said that the brush is ideal for the brow powder duo but on the reviews a lot of people said it works great with the dip brow pomade, so I followed what they said and I can say I thoroughly agree! The brush is the right size to perfectly angle and shape the brows, the spoolie is also brilliant to tame those brows and to help create a gradient affect. (which I'm working on slowly but surely) The brush comes in at £14.00 which I honestly don't mind paying for. I prefer having expensive brushes if I'm honest.

The photo above is a really bad photo taken on my iPad whilst getting ready for a night out, but you can see such a clear difference between the dip brow and how much more definition it's given my eyebrows!

I just really wanted to stick these two photos in so you could see different angles and lighting. It does take some adjusting to get used to, you have to be careful with just how much you put onto the brush because it makes such a difference to the eyebrow shade, thickness and general overall appearance! I've learnt the hard way a couple of times. It also lasts for hours on the brows! I've worn it for a 9am seminar up until I get home from the library, sometimes 2-3am in the morning so it lasts for a good 18 hours on me, it's also pretty difficult to get off the brows! Even with good make up wipes (shock horror sorry, I know they're considered a sin) I have to really scrub at my brows to make sure it's all off!

All in all, I absolutely love this product. I take back my grumbles about the size/amount that you pay for because you are definitely getting your money's worth with this one, I'm still only dabbing on the upmost top layer of the dip brow and I've had this for nearly a month now, so I reckon I definitely have a few months at least with this product (yay). I also love the brush, it is the best brow brush I've used yet and I have about nine different brow brushes!

Have you ever used Dip brow? Did you like it or do you want to try it? Let me know in the comments what you think!
